In a nutshell

My hair is messy and
Completely unkempt

My nail polish is chipped and
I overspend

I laugh whenever
There’s stress going on

I make up words to
My favourite songs

I watch my favourite movies
At least 20 times each

I need a stool because
I’m too short to reach

I do my best work
With a paper and pen

My favourite number is
Lucky number “7”

I’m a little chaotic but,
I don’t plan to change

Most people I meet
Think that I’m strange

I love to eat and
I eat a lot!

That’s me in a nutshell
accept me or not

Mixed weather and thrifting…

I had a great day!  Although it poured for about 20 minutes then went to full sun, typical in my part of the world, I managed to get some sun on my skin and also found some great deals while out doing errands.

There was a 50% off sale at Goodwill, now if you’re not familiar or uneasy about shopping at a second hand shop, I highly suggest you check out your local shops and see what kind of hidden gems you can find.  I’ve managed to find a Burberry and a Ralph Lauren button down shirts for $7.00 each…  The key to finding such gems is… patience…

This time I found a 2 pc bikini, which looked to be brand new, for $6.25 and a Roxy cover shirt for $3.25… I couldn’t go wrong with that! 😉

Goodwill Finds

Of course I suggest washing all your finds, however I did lay out, in what was left of the sun, in my new bikini top.  Summer is finally here!!

It’s about time Canada!  Sheesh!

First birthday weekend of the summer done…so many more to go…

In typical tradition, with every birthday in my family, it ends up being jam packed with frenzy, chaos, entertainment and laughter.  With the heat and activities, the kids ended up being such a handful!  I had to play referee among them, my 6 year old being the major troublemaker…sigh…on top of that I had to go to Walmart and Shoppers Drug Mart to pick up some stuff that I had run out of.  Oh what a time constrained weekend, I’m glad it’s over!

Nothing too out of the ordinary, but having 2 teenaged boys I had to restock them with deodorant and razors… ugh these boys are growing too fast!  I’m relieved that I have my own studio to escape to when I feel the testosterone levels rise.  Yikes!

I had to get proactive while I was in Shoppers, I checked my P.O. box and remembered to get stamps to mail some letters and documents.  With registering my business and organizing projects into a timeline, I was feeling a little stressed…  So, when I asked for a book of stamps, the cashier gave me a selection of the plain stamps or some fancier ones (it’s nice to know our taxpayer dollars went to some artwork)  I had a choice between the Guess Who, The Tragically Hip and Haunted Canada stamps.. lol Of course I chose the Haunted Canada ones…

Haunted Canada StampsI thought these were so cool!  It made me even more interested in the history of Canada and now I’m looking up places for my upcoming cross Canada travels.

It was a very busy and chaotic weekend and I have more to look forward to for the upcoming week.

Hope you all had a great weekend! 😉

Everything is coming together

I had an insomnia filled night, but I managed to get a lot done!  I have deadlines coming up for my company launch and of course I’m getting pulled from every direction.  Trying to find the balance between raising my pterodactyls, running a business and doing the things I love has felt like I’m walking a tightrope.  The crazy part is, the kids aren’t even out of school yet!

My summer will be filled with the careful balancing act of keeping the kids happy and myself sane.  I have birthdays every month and my social life with my friends has been on hiatus.  I praise texting even more now than ever!

Designing and creating has been on peak, so I’m going to keep riding that creative wave.  My projects are all coming along well and right on schedule which I’m proud.

I’ve also added a new link to my shop I hope you all enjoy what I’ve designed..some are a little racy, but who doesn’t love that? 😉

Hope you are all having a great day!

Cincinnati Trip: Kentucky to Ohio

My latest travel took me to Cincinnati, Ohio through Kentucky. I booked my flights with U.S. Airways and it was the most tooth-pulling experience ever! I took an airport shuttle through the Canadian border to Detroit and my flight wasn’t until 5am. Crossing the border was such a pain as I was the only one on the shuttle. The customs officer searched my bag…thoroughly :-/ … and after a million questions finally sent me on my way.

I arrived a good 4 hours before my flight, so I had time to kill. My flight wasn’t until 5am and the only ones in the building were the maintenance crew. The chairs were uncomfortable but I managed to entertain myself by tweeting and messing around with social media. I also felt the need to adjust my bra at the most inopportune and gave a nice show for the floor cleaner. omg so embarrassing!

Waiting in Detroit

Now, the route of this flight was ridiculous! I had to fly to North Carolina then back to Kentucky, basically a 1-2 hour flight turned into a 4-5 hour flight. I didn’t mind the extra travel if I had more time in North Carolina, but I was boarded right away for Kentucky. Arriving at the airport was a relief! Getting to the baggage claim was a bit of a maze but I enjoyed the adventure.

I booked a hotel room in Cincinnati and what I love about the States is that one can travel from state to state in a heartbeat. In Canada, it feels like forever before you can get out of a province. It cost $2 USD to take a public bus (T.A.N.K.) and it dropped me off about a block away from my hotel. It was a beautiful sunny day when I arrived so that helped a lot since I had been traveling from Canada for over 12 hours! I had a nice breakfast bagel and checked into my hotel.

I stayed at the Garfield Suites Hotel, I booked a 1 bedroom suite and it was HUGE! It was basically a 1 bedroom apartment complete with a walk-in closet and full kitchen converted into a hotel room and I thought it was genius! I truly felt like I had moved into a new apartment..hey a gal can dream lol…The hotel staff were phenomenal, very professional and with excellent customer service. The hotel is centrally located among the attractions and many of the restaurants. I did have a nice room, however there was construction happening in the building across from me, so I had to remind myself about that little detail when getting out from the bathroom after a shower.

Although Cincinnati filled my vacation with some heavy rain, I did have some moments of sunshine where I got a chance to visit the Fountain Square and window shop at the local boutiques that lined the downtown streets. There were cafes and outdoor restaurants that were all within walking distance from my hotel.

After 4 days, Cincinnati felt like home..however my adventure was not over..AT ALL!  I will miss this place and the Skyline coneys!!

I tried to get a flight out of Kentucky and with so many hurdles and phone calls back home…I thought I would have been stranded in the airport! My flight back home wasn’t until 10am the next morning, so I had to decide whether to stay at the airport overnight or find some kind of lodging for the night. With the airport wifi and my trusty gadgets I managed to find a very inexpensive hotel that was only about a 5-10 minute distance from the hotel. I booked a room at the Red Roof Inn and they even sent a car to pick me up for a flat fee of $10USD. I was mentally drained when I checked in, but the front staff were so sweet and they made me feel very at ease after a very stressful few hours. The room was clean and comfortable, although the wifi was a bit tricky, it worked and I was able to let everyone know I was safe. I had an ok sleep because my neighbours were so obnoxiously loud with their kids yelling in the hotel room and down the hall…I did manage to wake them up nice and early with my Hip Hop music complete with full volume 🙂

This time my flight took me to Chicago then to Detroit which shaved off a good couple hours, however the flights were both delayed and the customer service of U.S. Airways was terrible. The changed the gates where the Detroit plane was flying out from and when I wanted to confirm I stood in front of this huge beastly man for about 5 minutes before he even acknowledged I was there.. In a nutshell, I will NEVER fly with U.S. Airways again!

Here’s my last meal before leaving U.S. soil:

Starbucks frappacino & chipotle chicken sandwich

After another full day of travel, I was exhausted, a little shell shocked and ready to see my babies. They all greeted me with excitement and stories…even my dogs seemed like they had so much to tell me! hahahaha

Despite the mishaps and weather, I must say this was an adventure filled vacation and I have no regrets…

Now…where to travel next…?

SS 😉

Good bye USA!

Day 1: A Full Day and a Full Belly

My first day of vacation was filled with site seeing and window shopping.  The weather was cloudy, however it helped counter the humidity and heat.  The bonus about staying at The Garfield is that everything is within walking distance.  Arriving at Fountain Square was really exciting, seeing the performance stage and admiring the beautiful fountain.. it was breathtaking.

Fountain Square

I finished the day with a highly recommended local treat that I was at first hesitant about… but DAMN… these were some good coneys and I was told I couldn’t have coneys without Grippo’s… Yes!  So far this was my favourite meal!

I can’t wait to get Day 2 started! 🙂

Having a Day…

When the pan’s too hot and
I burn my eggs
I get a knife and the butter, but
I’m all outta bread

I pour a cup of coffee, but
the milk is all gone
I look out the window
as a dog shits on my lawn

I wear a nice dress then
I trip and I fall
I text while I’m walking
right into a wall

I’m in a rush but
I’ve gotta get gas
A stranger stares as I scream,

I text my friends
and no one replies
I’ve lost the count
of all of my sighs

Sign says the slush machine is
“Broken” today…
and I just KNOW there’s a bill
I forgot to pay

I take a shower but
I’m outta shampoo
and hey..wouldn’t you know
I’m outta conditioner too

I hide under my pillow and
try to sleep
then 5 minutes later my phone
starts to beep

I open my texts and prepare
what I will say
to a simple question of
“How was your day?”

My friends and I text all our
troubles away
And how we can’t wait for
a nice long vacay.
