No internet.. no communication

no-internet

My birthday week is coming to an end and I can laugh now that everything is in place the way it should be.  I lost my internet, forgot to pay it for an extended period of time oopsy  so, I was cut off from all communication for 3 days.  I can laugh now, but I can honestly say I was freaking out a little tiny bit.  I had calls to make, businesses to look after I was going a bit ahead of myself.  It was refreshing being without the luxuries of contact to anyone on any device and at any time.  My kids were cut off from their snapchat friends and their Facebook messenger, it was a very quiet and relaxing 3 days.

I love the internet and all that it provides, like entertainment, ability to use your own equipment to make one of kind videos, meet business partners etc.  It is also nice to have a step back and take a break from how busy the internet can be for me.  Three or four days away to refresh and make better decisions has become a must for me.  I am going to take 3-4 days a month to turn off and enjoy the quiet.  It’s definitely something to look forward to after a long 24 hour period of life online.  I had time to reflect and just enjoy painting and the beautiful Spring weather.

I’ll be taking a road trip soon so join me on that trip live on Periscope (StilettoSuprmom).

Hope you all have a FANTASTIC day! 🙂

Movie Review: Split

splitmovie

I was hearing and reading quite a bit of reviews regarding this movie.  I haven’t watched any of the trailers for this movie and it was a good thing.  I am all for psychological thrillers, however I was disappointed at how predictable it was.  I’m going to totally spoil this movie so if you haven’t watched it yet.. stop reading this post right now.

Like I said I love scary movies filled with gore, however when it comes to psychological thrillers things have to make sense to me.  I didn’t understand why he kidnapped these girls with no plan.  It didn’t make any sense why they were held.  I mean, honestly I thought that was the weakest and one of the important details off the whole plot.  There was no extortion of money, no deviant motive.. it didn’t make any sense.  Now, granted James McAvoy did an excellent job portraying each of his personalities, it was sadly predictable and didn’t keep my attention for a lot of the movie.

I won’t be watching this movie again, but now I know their advertising team did a great job .  lol

Review: EOS Shave Cream

In my last review, Conair for Her Wet/Dry shaver, I mentioned the shaving cream I used to test the shaver.  I purchased it at Winners. I remember the craze over the EOS lip balms and I anticipated to love the shave cream.

The claim is that it’s smooth, creamy and lasts for up to 24 hours. After my first use, I did fall in love!  The electric shaver glided through the cream and YES my skin was left moisturized.  I didn’t have any skin reactions and the scent is refreshing.

I’ve been finding a lot of great products from Winners these days.  I’ll be posting more great products I’ve found in this store so check them out soon.

Review: Conair for Her Wet/Dry Shaver

If you’ve been following me here or on social media, you’re aware of my experiences with wax hair removal.  I bought my first wax warmer about 6 years ago and at one time I even tried waxing my bikini line… I suggest that you NEVER do that, it freakin hurts.. go to a professional for that job, for real!  I still wax myself, but mostly underarms and occasionally on my legs.

Spring is here and many of us Canadian gals are shedding our winter leg hairs and getting ourselves ready for the time sensitive spring and summer.  Although waxing my legs is fabulous, it takes a lot longer than a quick shave in the shower.  In my thinking, disposable razors are expensive and when you have a whole house full of boys, two of which already shave, it was literally making me feel like I was actually throwing out money.  Off to Walmart I went…

After going through a few electric razors, Conair for her (link shows newer model) was the only one that didn’t have a warning saying “Some materials in this product are not approved in the state of California”  Like, what the heck does that mean?  Anyway, I purchased it to see if it could replace disposable razors in both price and ability to de-hair my legs.

It comes with a base for recharging, a blade cover and two bikini comb guides (razor guards).  This shaver can be used in wet and dry conditions which is perfect for what I need.  First, I tried it on my dry legs, after getting used to the whole shaving experience my legs were smooth and hair free.  A week later, with hair regrowth, I decided to take my lil gal into the shower with some EOS shaving cream (review coming soon) and tried it out.  I was super impressed!  It glided over my legs and although I had shaving cream it didn’t skip nor shut off.

Overall, this is a great gadget to have and it’s small enough to be travel friendly.  I don’t think I’ll give up on waxing, but this is great for those days where I’m NOT so timing friendly.

Let me know if you try it out!

Review: LUSH Children’s soap

Although LUSH products have been around for many years, I have never ventured into the stores because when they first came out the scent from their store was very strong and literally gave me a headache.  I watched an episode of Undercover Boss: LUSH and I was more intrigued about the company as a whole.  My next visit to the mall, I made a point of going into the LUSH store.  The store was packed with customers and I almost didn’t go in because of all the traffic, but braving my fear of someone breathing on me,  I braved myself to go in.  I was immediately welcomed and I stayed to watch and participate in the live demonstration of a bath bomb (I bought 3 of those).

I asked for kids products and was led to the section and the salesperson explained how to use the soap and if they were hypoallergenic, which they were.  I walked away with the Aliens and Monsters soap.

Ultimately, my boys LOVE this product!  They had fun making shapes and animals with the soap.  When wet, the soap becomes moldable like play dough and each colour had its own scent.

The only gripe I have was with the packaging, it comes wrapped in cellophane that isn’t really easy to open and makes it difficult and messy to store.   Other than that, this is the best product I’ve tried with my kids and it was a success.

I recommend anyone who shops there to not be intimidated and go in, there is something for anyone.

Overall, LUSH didn’t not disappoint me, I’m still trying some other products I purchased.  I will do reviews on those as well.

Hope you have an awesome day!
