Guilty Pleasure and a Healthy Treat

It is the holiday season and the date squares are a welcomed treat. I came across a quick and easy recipe that has a different spin on a date treat.

The ingredients are simple:

  • Medjoul dates
  • chunky peanut butter
  • Semi-sweet chocolate
  • Unsalted butter
  • Salt
Fresh dates 😋🥰

This recipe is for 10 treats.

Pit 10 dates by carefully slicing them in half, length wise. You will find a thin seed between the core fibre. Take the tip of your knife and pry it out. The seed should come out easily.

Scoop a teaspoon of chunky peanut butter and place it in the centre of the date. You can also add chopped peanuts to the centre, for extra crunch, too. Tightly fold the date halves together and press like it’s a peanut butter sandwich.

To make the chocolate topping, use a double boiler and melt the semi-sweet chocolate and 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter. Mix together well.

Once the chocolate is smooth coat each peanut butter date with chocolate and place on parchment paper or a cookie sheet. Sprinkle salt (I recommend sea salt) to the top of each treat and let them rest in the freezer for 1 hour.

Just out of the freezer

Serve as a delicious dessert. I have to admit they really do taste like Snickers bars! You can pretty them up a bit more. Mine were a bit rushed with my sons over my shoulder, but either way it is a healthy alternative to a guilty pleasure chocolate bar.

Review: KORSKR Wireless Earbuds

I’ve been catching up on my home decoration projects and I need to be as hands free as possible.  I liked the idea of the small buds that go directly into an ear but I have long hair and small ears so I preferred the extra security of a piece going around the ear.  I recently ordered a pair of KORSKR earbuds.

They come with a rechargeable case and a short usb cord but no adapter. The cord would be best used for a laptop as a power source. It runs connected and fully charged for approximately 6-7 hours straight. There is a voice notification of connection and a battery low warning.  It is sensitive to touch on each side which takes some getting used to, though.  Each earpiece can pause the device and answer calls.  I occasionally just put one earpiece in when I am communicating with the family around me.

The front display shows the power of each piece separately.  It is small so I personally have to make sure I put the charging case in plain sight or in my purse.  Amazon lists it as KORSKR Wireless Earbuds $39.99CAD and it currently has a $10 off voucher.  I will give these as gifts for friends and family. I hope you enjoy them too!

Life’s Keychains and Zipper Pulls

It’s funny how simple solutions are right in front of me. I have a few totes and bags I don’t use for one reason: I can’t find and access the zipper.

I have been leaving the zippers open on my bags for years. I didn’t really think about it, but it defeats the purpose of securing my things in said bag. Since I’ve been getting back into crocheting, I decided to come up with a solution. I have been making these adorable little amigurumi toys. My family, friends and I are just loving these adorable little buddies. I thought about my sons bags and how they too have issues finding that tiny zipper. A lot of people have issues with disabilities, including me on tough MS days, so finding zippers like this tends to be overlooked.

Keychain and Zipper Pull

This zipper pull and keychain with this cute little Grogu inspired little guy stole my heart and is friend adored and young sons approved.

Sometimes the simplest fixes are literally at your fingertips! I have dedicated a whole different blog and website for my handmade things from baby clothing to toys. It has been nostalgic because I used to sew costumes, toys, clothing, quilts; knit and crochet..etc. I have been reinspired and motivated to do everything I love.

It is still in a tiny baby stage but I have been working on it at a leisurely pace. No rush, no pressure just a nice DIY type of place. This world has been operating too fast so I wanted to find my peace on the internet.

I have been wearing a lot of hats lately and putting a lot less pressure on myself which I highly recommend. Adulthood can be really fast and furious so if we don’t find our peace, we will lose ourselves. Take up a hobby, exercise or just sit down, chill and exhale. You are an adult and you’ve been through a lot. You are worth it!

If you like DIY and textile art check out my other website. It’s under construction even as I write this. Thanks guys and have a fantastic day!
