Over already?!

It's the Civic Holiday weekend and it feels like the summer months passed by so fast! I blame most of this on the weirdest weather I've seen in years! It would rain so hard it sounded like hail against my windows, thunderstorms at least once a week followed by extreme heat where I could hardly breathe. Although, I'd rather have this weather than the upcoming winter months.

The back-to-school supplies and clothing are in all the stores, I can almost hear my bank account cry for my school shopping days that are just around the corner. It will be an emotional school year for me as my last little pterodactyl will be leaving the nest to go to school. So far, he knows his numbers up to 10 and backwards, but he refuses to sing the alphabet song lol. Thanks to the iPad he does know what the letters are, but he just doesn't like the song. I'm guessing that he thinks the song is dumb, he rolls his eyes every time I ask him to sing it.

Lately, my days are filled with doll orders and event planning. It's a truly exciting time for me. I have found what I love in all aspects of my life from the kids, social life and now my artistry. They often say that when your personal life is good everything else around is chaos. I am living proof that the saying is NOT true. We all need to find the balance in our own lives or things get harder and harder to do. It's like the universe makes some things in our lives difficult in order to accept something better in our lives. "Out with the old, in with the new" has a deeper meaning than we think. This whole year has unraveled many important life choices for me. My family relationships have been stronger now than ever, financial security is finally here, reuniting with my childhood best friend, maintaining deeper relationships with my friends from all over my online world and forming new amazing friendships who have cleared my mind and settled my soul.

Yes, you can have it all, yes abundance is attainable. If you want these things, you have to release everything that you know is holding you back. It will seem so difficult to let go, but it will be worth it and those difficult moments you are experiencing right now, will be in your distant past. Right when you're about to give up hope is when you have to gather up as much strength as you have to get through the rough moments. You will see your end goals, not when YOU want to see it, but when you're ready to accept it.

A quick change and away we go…

It seemed as if I was ready to put my plan in motion and move forward, then like the boom of thunder something happens and I’m lead yet again down a very unknown path.  Making alterations and changing schedules has been an ongoing thing.  Sometimes it feels like I’m 2 steps forward yet 1 step back and it can be a tedious cycle.  Although it definitely feels like a Monday, it feels as if this is the moment where I have to adjust my plan to accommodate an even better opportunity.  I’m not sure where it will lead me and I really never want to know, I just know that I am being slightly forced to venture into very uncharted waters.  It’s both exciting and I’m full of anticipation I almost feel like a child with a great book, skipping forward a few pages just to be sure they know the outcome.

After moving and transforming over the last few months, I’ve accepted that for whatever reason, I chose this ever changing and unknown path and that’s ok.  I still love what I do and I’m willing to leave more room for changes when it comes to my decision making.

My vision is becoming more and more tangible with every opportunity that has been presented to me.  I am ever grateful to all my online people that have not only been inspirations but have become dear close friends of mine.

My next goal is to plan a family trip to Disney World…  I’m thinking about traveling there in a large RV and a strong wifi connection.. maybee… hmmmm…

Hope you are all staying warm and safe!

Much love my Sweets!

Life with Supermom: An Appointment Story

I dutifully took my son to his follow-up bone specialist appointment.  He broke his collarbone a month ago and I had to come back to X-ray his clavicle.  My appointment was at 10:25am and I didn’t get home until 1:30pm!

I showed up at my appointment time, “checked-in”, waited for them to call my number, which was 2 hours.  We had the X-ray done, although my little man screamed the whole time because he was scared of the X-ray machine.  We had to wait another hour to see the doctor.  When we finally saw someone, they showed me his X-ray results and it looked like it was healing properly.  It took about 5 minutes for her to tell me what was happening and that they didn’t need to see him again unless he was complaining about pain.

Before we actually saw the doctor, my lil pterodactyl decides to poop.  Lucky for me, there was a washroom nearby, UNLUCKY for me they didn’t have a change table in it.  So, I grabbed a chair and took it into the bathroom and tried to maneuver my awkward diaper change chair.  The diaper was changed successfully and a lady after me thanked me because she needed to change her baby, too.  All in all it worked out for my fellow Momma and me.

Now my beef is that the wait was ridiculous!  The huge waiting room was packed full of people, which I suspect they had double booked us all.  Keeping my 2 year old entertained with my iPad mini was a challenge because all he wanted to do was walk around.

It wasn’t one of my favourite times in my life, but I’m happy to be finished with those appointments.  Whew!

Much love to all! 🙂

Back with the old?

Tea Time

This weekend seemed to keep me more busy than I had anticipated.  It was full of cooking, cleaning and a lot of deep random thoughts.  Watching episodes of Law and Order Special Victims Unit brought some realization of how serious life can be and it eventually lead me to think of the “simple” times.  In particular, it made me question what and when is the correct “tea time”?

I posted the question on Twitter and I received some helpful information as to when the hour is for “High Tea”.  I did some research as I was curious as to Why? What? and When?  Tea time existed.

In the United Kingdom during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, Afternoon Tea, also known as “low tea”, was celebrated in the late afternoon predominantly as a social event for upper class women as a bridge between meals.  Tea with finger sandwiches, scones, fruit, etc. were served at low tables and comfy chairs and sofas.  It was a social time for women complete with everything lace and dainty.  However, the working class had a different budget and schedule which meant most of their dinners were served later in the evening after 6pm, High Tea became a necessity.

High Tea was usually celebrated between 3pm and 4pm as well but with a more substantial menu.  Tea, potatoes, crackers, cheese, meats and pies were served and the tradition still continues now, with the addition of more delicious pastries and treats.

As I was packing my children’s lunches today, I thought about how their meals are broken up while they are at school and how famished they are when they get home between 3pm and 4pm of their modern day schedule.  The kids come home and snack here and there, but I think it’s time to change things up so, with that in mind, I’ve decided to bring “High Tea” time back and incorporate it into my daily life.  I’m going to try “High Tea” time as a household experiment and see how it affects the children and my grocery budget.  This should be fun!

Now… how do I make scones…?

Humidifiers and winterizing your nest

Winter is in full effect and with that comes the added bonus of colds, viruses and flus, the winter months freak me out!  I can’t just open a window and let fresh air in without freezing my toes off which is a total bummer.  Winter has done its job at putting all the trees and plants in hibernation and has forced me to fire up my furnace.  Now that the dry heat is circulating throughout the house I knew it would cause problems with my kids.  My furnace has a humidifier attachment, but it needs to be replaced so, my alternative was to go out and find me a new humidifier.

I went to Walmart and found the humidifier display in the Household department and there were a ton to choose from.  Prices ranged from $20-$169.  I chose the Sunbeam Warm Mist Filter Free Humidifier:

Sunbeam Humidifier

It has 2 settings (low to high humidity)and an “off” option; a small medicine tray by the vent; a clear water container; it can run all night and day; and it has no filter!

I have owned a few humidifiers over the years and I can honestly say I am in an extreme dislike for humidifiers with filters!  They just end up so gross and there’s so much maintenance and cleaning with that extra step.  Being a mom of 6, I don’t want to have to run to the store to constantly replace the filter… it’s just something I’m not into, so the no filter option was a major selling point to me.  My 2 year old had a fever and a dry cough around the same time I bought the humidifier and I am proud to report he’s been having some great sleeps at night and is finally over his cold.

If you’re in need of a good simple humidifier try this one out.  It was $34.96CAD at Walmart which is nice on the budget, has a great output and is surprisingly quiet.

On that note, I’m off to do some Christmas shopping… 😀

I hope you are all having a fabulous day!

Easter Weekend Begins…

Today begins the Easter Weekend.  Thankfully , the sun is shining and it is warm enough to do some walking.  After my 9 year old and my 5 year old were done eating their after school snack of apples; I brought out my packs of stickers and construction paper and told them to make some pages, hats, or whatever they wanted.  They loved the idea of making crowns and hats.  The house is so quiet and I actually have time to write and work..as well as repaint my nails.

Easter Nails

I filed and shaped my nails and I came up with a pastel purple, pink and green look.

On my left hand I painted OPI’s Lucky Lucky Lavender with Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in no, 540 Jaded on the ring finger.  On my right hand, I put the same lavender colour, but I used OPI’s If You Moust You Moust on the ring finger.  I’ll be going to my brother’s house for Easter this year.  I don’t have a clue what I’m going to wear but I’m going to be rocking these nails out.  It’s traditional for all of the women in our family to sit down after dinner and paint our nails, chat and watch movies while sipping our coffees or teas.  I know my sis inlaw will expect me to bring my nail polish.

I also bought these Sharpie 80’s Glam markers from Staples on sale for $15.00…

…and from Michael’s Craft Store I bought these adhesive ribbons that  for $9.99 with their 40% off sale.

I was clearing out my studio for some shelving and supply storage and I came to my picture box.  Most of the photos had taken some years of abuse from packing and unpacking.  Since everything is digital, I figured I’d seriously focus on getting these into scrapbooks before they get completely destroyed.  So far, it’s been very relaxing going through my old photos of the kids.  The best part is my brother left all his things with me on various moves.  From his paintings to his old decorations from his old place.  I came across his old pictures from when he was sporting around long hair, driving a Tracker and Keanu Reeves was the latest girl-craze.  I’m putting a page together for him which will be hilarious because I’m sure he’s completely forgotten about these.

I’m looking forward to this weekend with my kids and my family…  bring it on Easter! 🙂

OMG Milk & OMG Peanut…and Netflix

This whole week I’ve been doing research and this weekend has come and gone. The kids’ lunches are ready for the last week before Easter. I went to the nearby Dollarama and picked up some Easter decorations and set it up before the kids came home…and they LOVED it! I had to sneak a picture before they ate all the MiniEggs…

Easter 2014

…like I thought, they devoured them haha

I couldn’t find construction paper at Dollarama so I stopped at Shoppers Drug Mart and found a couple things I needed for some of my projects. I will have to buy some gel pens as my boys “have no idea where they are”. The pen case was exactly where I left them, but zero pens..sigh.

My biggest “score” however, were the OMG candy clusters I found. I was watching The Dragons’ Den on Netflix and I learned that these chocolate treats were made by the same creators of Clodhoppers. Of course, I wanted to try them.

OMG's Candy

Uhmm all I can say is YUMMMMM! These chocolates have graham cracker bits mixed in with almonds (Milk in red packaging) and the same mixture but with peanuts (Peanut in yellow packaging). If you are a chocolate lover like I am you will love these. The chocolate is so creamy and although the bag looks small, they are quite filling. The Peanut version seemed to have peanut butter mixed into the chocolate with whole peanut chunks. Great snack food!

I took my dog for a late night walk to burn off the delicious treats, now I’m off to curl up in my comfy bed and watch some Netflix. I will let you all know what I watched tomorrow.

Much love! 😉
