My children wanted to learn our traditional dish of Filipino Lumpia. In a short description, they are small egg rolls usually made as appetizers, snacks, sides etc. I had so much fun teaching them how every piece is made with care and love. It was a nice bonding moment shared with my young men. I hope they will pass this recipe and technique to my future grandchildren.
I remember helping my mom and aunties make hundreds of these egg rolls. I was responsible for carefully pulling each wrap away from the other making sure they didn’t rip.
Overall, I’m proud to say that, despite the efforts to cut corners, they did a wonderful job and it’s nice to have help to make these traditional treats. The delicious Homemade Lumpia was devoured.
Enjoy the video! There will be more recipes and adventures soon!
I watched the movie Us and I’m totally going to spoil it so if you haven’t seen it, my apologies and I’ll omit many of the details. It made me think about what really goes on underground. As genius human beings we’ve developed massive sewer systems, subways, trains, etc in more recent years we’ve witnessed sinkholes in the middle of our cities.. but I digress. My thoughts are what if we were forced to live underground and what if it want that bad?
I’d like to think as common sense beings we are actually closer to utopia as we are giving ourselves credit for. I’ve had some time away from the noise of television, radio and forms of social media and there’s so much more out there. I’m going to be a bit “zen” right now and tell you to choose your happiness. With all the mental noise and calamity available to us and that we carry around, what if one day it all stopped. The internet, radio, television all stopped and we were forced to live below?
We’ve been growing some herbs and vegetables with my sons and they’ve been loving it. I asked my nephews and sons of they could picture their lives without the internet and their PS4. I swear their faces looked as if they needed a few days to process it. I’ve accepted and welcome the amazing developments of technology and medicine. I disagree with our education system’s lack of focus on our children’s ability to read and write in cursive and sign names on forms and documents. Overall it’s not such a bad place to live in our most current timeline. What if we had to reset all our lives but could only live underground? No internet, no cars, no money?
I was sent some samples of Le Petit Marseillais Shower Gel in Mandarin & Lime scent for review. It couldn’t come at a better time right in the hottest days of summer and when I’m on the hunt for a new summer soap!
The shower gel has a green tint and it the scent was full of fresh citrus and sweetness. I have extremely dry skin, especially when my skin is transitioning to the humid heat.
I applied it directly on a washcloth and began to scrub. The gel didn’t lather up with suds like previous shower gels I’ve tried, but I gave it my best effort. So as far as suds it’s on the low-key side. My skin was left feeling refreshed and squeaky clean.
After my shower, I made sure I didn’t add any lotion or moisturizers to get the full before and after effects of the gel. My skin began to dry up and look scaly. The package did say it was “extra gentle” but I don’t think my skin agrees. I tried it a second time ( I was given 2 samples ) but this time I added the shower gel to my getting ready routine to see how it held up under more normal conditions. I, again, applied the shower gel with a washcloth and the same results of no suds and no lather. This time I used moisturizer as usual and my skin was still dry just not as bad as the first trial.
I didn’t particularly find anything life changing about Le Petit Marseillais’ Shower Gel. Yes it is milder than other soaps and gels with a fantastic scent and I found a 400ml bottle at Walmart for $4.97 CDN. I would recommend this product as a mild daily soap for use in travel to the beach or camping. A great alternative to messy bars of soap for children.
My favourite feature is the scent, it is mild and lingers pleasantly on your skin which is extra nice during hot weather. I was expecting a thicker gel consistency but it was more liquid like the consistency of syrup. If you like bubbles and suds you won’t find them in a bottle of this product and it left my skin dry. It’s affordable for families, it’s available at stores like Walmart and you can find it on Amazon as well.
✔️ Great Scent
✔️ Available in Walmart and Amazon
✖️ Left my skin drier than normal
✖️ Very runny not a gel consistency
More reviews to come! ☺️❤️Much love,SS 💃🏻👠

It's the Civic Holiday weekend and it feels like the summer months passed by so fast! I blame most of this on the weirdest weather I've seen in years! It would rain so hard it sounded like hail against my windows, thunderstorms at least once a week followed by extreme heat where I could hardly breathe. Although, I'd rather have this weather than the upcoming winter months.
The back-to-school supplies and clothing are in all the stores, I can almost hear my bank account cry for my school shopping days that are just around the corner. It will be an emotional school year for me as my last little pterodactyl will be leaving the nest to go to school. So far, he knows his numbers up to 10 and backwards, but he refuses to sing the alphabet song lol. Thanks to the iPad he does know what the letters are, but he just doesn't like the song. I'm guessing that he thinks the song is dumb, he rolls his eyes every time I ask him to sing it.
Lately, my days are filled with doll orders and event planning. It's a truly exciting time for me. I have found what I love in all aspects of my life from the kids, social life and now my artistry. They often say that when your personal life is good everything else around is chaos. I am living proof that the saying is NOT true. We all need to find the balance in our own lives or things get harder and harder to do. It's like the universe makes some things in our lives difficult in order to accept something better in our lives. "Out with the old, in with the new" has a deeper meaning than we think. This whole year has unraveled many important life choices for me. My family relationships have been stronger now than ever, financial security is finally here, reuniting with my childhood best friend, maintaining deeper relationships with my friends from all over my online world and forming new amazing friendships who have cleared my mind and settled my soul.
Yes, you can have it all, yes abundance is attainable. If you want these things, you have to release everything that you know is holding you back. It will seem so difficult to let go, but it will be worth it and those difficult moments you are experiencing right now, will be in your distant past. Right when you're about to give up hope is when you have to gather up as much strength as you have to get through the rough moments. You will see your end goals, not when YOU want to see it, but when you're ready to accept it.
Many of you have been following my blog about reviews on movies, products, etc, What I haven’t really shared is one of my passions and artistic expression.
6 years ago, my mother in law purchased a doll on eBay for $150CDN. Of course, I was curious and when she showed me this open eyed doll with soft hair and realistic features, I was hooked! I purchased some affordable vinyl doll kits, bought some paint and learned by trial and error. I am a seasoned self-taught Reborn Doll Artist with years of experience and I am confident in my skills and ability to turn a simple piece of vinyl into a lifelike baby.
I’m well aware of how people react to these dolls, some negative, but most are very positive and just as curious as I was. I’ve had the pleasure of teaching this art to friends and family. What made me even more passionate about this art is that they are now used for therapy for many people with Autism, Alzheimer’s, PTSD and those that are experiencing loss.
I have met many great people through this art form over the years and I continue to meet new friends on a daily basis. One thing rings truth among the artists I have met and that is to share our artwork and participate in a cause that effects so many people and their families.
This year, my goal is to spread the word of how these beautiful dolls are not only for collectors but they serve a purpose that many need in our communities.
I’m taking you all on this new journey, so enjoy the ride! 🙂
If you are a fan of the X-Men then you will absolutely love this movie! Yes, my brother collected almost all the Wolverine comics and he’d let me read them. I was hooked by the storylines. The whole mutant alliance is an amazing one and this whole movie kept it inline with the story of Logan, I was also proud that he is Canadian.
I’ll try not to ruin the whole movie but from the trailers you know that a girl was involved. The action in this movie was nonstop and I felt a very strong relationship which was a perfect blend of new and old X-Men.
If you’re interested in watching this be prepared to go on a journey full of hurdles. I will watch this movie over and over.. it’s THAT good.
If you’re looking for a Friday Flick or something to watch this weekend, I would totally recommend this movie. For those Action movie watchers, this movie will not disappoint you.
If you’ve been following me here or on social media, you’re aware of my experiences with wax hair removal. I bought my first wax warmer about 6 years ago and at one time I even tried waxing my bikini line… I suggest that you NEVER do that, it freakin hurts.. go to a professional for that job, for real! I still wax myself, but mostly underarms and occasionally on my legs.
Spring is here and many of us Canadian gals are shedding our winter leg hairs and getting ourselves ready for the time sensitive spring and summer. Although waxing my legs is fabulous, it takes a lot longer than a quick shave in the shower. In my thinking, disposable razors are expensive and when you have a whole house full of boys, two of which already shave, it was literally making me feel like I was actually throwing out money. Off to Walmart I went…
After going through a few electric razors, Conair for her (link shows newer model) was the only one that didn’t have a warning saying “Some materials in this product are not approved in the state of California” Like, what the heck does that mean? Anyway, I purchased it to see if it could replace disposable razors in both price and ability to de-hair my legs.
It comes with a base for recharging, a blade cover and two bikini comb guides (razor guards). This shaver can be used in wet and dry conditions which is perfect for what I need. First, I tried it on my dry legs, after getting used to the whole shaving experience my legs were smooth and hair free. A week later, with hair regrowth, I decided to take my lil gal into the shower with some EOS shaving cream (review coming soon) and tried it out. I was super impressed! It glided over my legs and although I had shaving cream it didn’t skip nor shut off.
Overall, this is a great gadget to have and it’s small enough to be travel friendly. I don’t think I’ll give up on waxing, but this is great for those days where I’m NOT so timing friendly.
Although LUSH products have been around for many years, I have never ventured into the stores because when they first came out the scent from their store was very strong and literally gave me a headache. I watched an episode of Undercover Boss: LUSHand I was more intrigued about the company as a whole. My next visit to the mall, I made a point of going into the LUSH store. The store was packed with customers and I almost didn’t go in because of all the traffic, but braving my fear of someone breathing on me, I braved myself to go in. I was immediately welcomed and I stayed to watch and participate in the live demonstration of a bath bomb (I bought 3 of those).
I asked for kids products and was led to the section and the salesperson explained how to use the soap and if they were hypoallergenic, which they were. I walked away with the Aliens and Monsters soap.
Ultimately, my boys LOVE this product! They had fun making shapes and animals with the soap. When wet, the soap becomes moldable like play dough and each colour had its own scent.
The only gripe I have was with the packaging, it comes wrapped in cellophane that isn’t really easy to open and makes it difficult and messy to store. Other than that, this is the best product I’ve tried with my kids and it was a success.
I recommend anyone who shops there to not be intimidated and go in, there is something for anyone.
Overall, LUSH didn’t not disappoint me, I’m still trying some other products I purchased. I will do reviews on those as well.
The “Chesire Cat” has been a long time favourite character from the Alice in Wonderland story. I loved both the original cartoon and the one from the updated Alice Through The Looking Glass movie.
I used NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in “Milk” as a base over my entire lid and started my look with the colour “Reflection” from the palette, pressing the eyeshadow into my lid, I find that I get a better colour pay off when I do this with any eyeshadow.
Using the colour “Gone Mad” I apply it to my crease and loosely wing the eyeshadow out towards the outer corner of my eyes. I applied “Cake” underneath my brow towards my crease. Using NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in “Purple Velvet” create a cat nose around my nostrils to the tip of my nose, then press “Time” into the base. I used “Blacktrack” by MAC to line my eyes making sure the inner corners of the “cat eye” angle carefully down the sides of my nose and wing it out. I keep a pack of cosmetic cotton swabs close by to help clean up and fix any mistakes. I place the colour “Royal Flush” to the in the inner and outer corner of the “cat eye” which makes them pop!I used Jumbo Eye Pencil by NYX in “Peacock” and “Time” eyeshadow in the centre of my cupids bow and dab whisker holes with the tip of a cosmetic cotton swab using MAC’s “Blacktrack” gel eyeliner.
I applied the blush “Flaunt” by Lorac Cosmetics to my cheeks and in all my contour areas like the temples and along my forehead hairline.
With Jumbo Eye Pencil “Purple Velvet” I drew long hairs to the top of my eyebrows and throughout my forehead to simulate the cat’s stripes, then placed “Cake” eyeshadow just underneath the darker stripes then blended out any harsh lines.
I outlined the famous Cheshire Cat grin with “Rust” Jumbo Eye Pencil carving out sharp triangles for the teeth, I then set the lips and between the teeth with “Time” eyeshadow. I coloured the teeth in with “Milk” then outlined each tooth with a thin eyeliner brush.
For the final touches, I applied “Iconic” lashes by House of Lashes then added my long curly custom wig by XtraWaves, I twisted the hair into two tall buns for the cat’s ears.
I just love playing with this palette, so stay tuned for more makeup fun. I also created a special “The Cat Music” playlist while I worked on my face I’ll have the video an all the links below.
