Review: I Am Jane Doe

I am jane doe

I’m always on the look out for some really great movies and documentaries on Netflix and I’ve always found little hidden gems on this streaming network.  I haven’t been disappointed so it’s safe to say that Netflix has given me pretty good recommendations as per my profile.  This documentary, “I AM JANE DOE”, was one that immediately caught my eyes.

The documentary is ultimately dark and a sad truth of the reality these day.  All the freedom to explore and have great experiences all at your fingertips.  The internet has become a double-edged sword for us all, some good and some bad.  If you are on the internet at all, you already have experience be it sharing family outings to being trolled by some random stranger.  This movie is not the romantic side of the internet, but it shows the very real horrors of being on the internet.

Human trafficking.  Just those two words together is enough to make anyone’s skin crawl, but unfortunately it is a very real epidemic that doesn’t just happen in third world countries. It seems like our North American lives turns a blind mind towards the realities of Human Trafficking.  Believe it or not, North America is a haven for kidnapped children who are then sold to the long awaited customers.  In this day and of age of 2017, our children are not only being kidnapped and ripped from our parental arms, but our children are at risk every moment of every day.

After watching this movie you will not only hug your children a lot more, but you will be also empowered to be proactive with your children.  No one is really protected on the internet.  It’s no different than being exposed to the same crimes out in public.  Unfortunately, money talks and politicians are easily swayed from doing the right thing to doing what is easiest.  The truth is that we are on our own, we can’t ask the government for help when they have no answers.  We have to educate ourselves and our children and although we are very “free” we will always be an arms length from harm.  Our complacency leaves our children in very real danger.

I encourage you to watch this documentary and use it as a tool to protect those that you love.  Predators don’t hide in the shadows anymore, they hide in plain sight through the internet.  Protect your babies by educating them and yourself, that’s the first defence.

Over already?!

It's the Civic Holiday weekend and it feels like the summer months passed by so fast! I blame most of this on the weirdest weather I've seen in years! It would rain so hard it sounded like hail against my windows, thunderstorms at least once a week followed by extreme heat where I could hardly breathe. Although, I'd rather have this weather than the upcoming winter months.

The back-to-school supplies and clothing are in all the stores, I can almost hear my bank account cry for my school shopping days that are just around the corner. It will be an emotional school year for me as my last little pterodactyl will be leaving the nest to go to school. So far, he knows his numbers up to 10 and backwards, but he refuses to sing the alphabet song lol. Thanks to the iPad he does know what the letters are, but he just doesn't like the song. I'm guessing that he thinks the song is dumb, he rolls his eyes every time I ask him to sing it.

Lately, my days are filled with doll orders and event planning. It's a truly exciting time for me. I have found what I love in all aspects of my life from the kids, social life and now my artistry. They often say that when your personal life is good everything else around is chaos. I am living proof that the saying is NOT true. We all need to find the balance in our own lives or things get harder and harder to do. It's like the universe makes some things in our lives difficult in order to accept something better in our lives. "Out with the old, in with the new" has a deeper meaning than we think. This whole year has unraveled many important life choices for me. My family relationships have been stronger now than ever, financial security is finally here, reuniting with my childhood best friend, maintaining deeper relationships with my friends from all over my online world and forming new amazing friendships who have cleared my mind and settled my soul.

Yes, you can have it all, yes abundance is attainable. If you want these things, you have to release everything that you know is holding you back. It will seem so difficult to let go, but it will be worth it and those difficult moments you are experiencing right now, will be in your distant past. Right when you're about to give up hope is when you have to gather up as much strength as you have to get through the rough moments. You will see your end goals, not when YOU want to see it, but when you're ready to accept it.

Review: LUSH Children’s soap

Although LUSH products have been around for many years, I have never ventured into the stores because when they first came out the scent from their store was very strong and literally gave me a headache.  I watched an episode of Undercover Boss: LUSH and I was more intrigued about the company as a whole.  My next visit to the mall, I made a point of going into the LUSH store.  The store was packed with customers and I almost didn’t go in because of all the traffic, but braving my fear of someone breathing on me,  I braved myself to go in.  I was immediately welcomed and I stayed to watch and participate in the live demonstration of a bath bomb (I bought 3 of those).

I asked for kids products and was led to the section and the salesperson explained how to use the soap and if they were hypoallergenic, which they were.  I walked away with the Aliens and Monsters soap.

Ultimately, my boys LOVE this product!  They had fun making shapes and animals with the soap.  When wet, the soap becomes moldable like play dough and each colour had its own scent.

The only gripe I have was with the packaging, it comes wrapped in cellophane that isn’t really easy to open and makes it difficult and messy to store.   Other than that, this is the best product I’ve tried with my kids and it was a success.

I recommend anyone who shops there to not be intimidated and go in, there is something for anyone.

Overall, LUSH didn’t not disappoint me, I’m still trying some other products I purchased.  I will do reviews on those as well.

Hope you have an awesome day!

Lil Man’s Operation

IMG_0002

Nothing can humble a parent more than when they require an operation.  Although it was considered “minor” the powerless feeling was so overwhelming when they wheeled him out of the room in a steel crib that resembled an animal cage.

The newest hospital improvement is now a random number attached to the patient’s name.  The waiting room has a huge monitor to watch and track the patient’s whereabouts.  It’s a lot like the airport monitors where one searches through to look for their flight number.  He stared at me with his great big eyes and it took everything I had to not breakdown and cry.

The whole hospital visit took about 5 hours.

It took about 3 days for the pain to finally subside and his appetite has finally come back.  I’ve been awake on 24hour on-call nurse duties so, I’m happy that he’s back to his   sleep schedule.

Now that my son is healing, I’ve  been able to film and edit so you will be seeing much more of the video projects I’ve been working on as well as my radio show shenanigans.

Midsummer days: Settling in and flying out…

August 2015

Midsummer is in full swing and I’m not only feeling the heat but my days have been filled with major changes in my lifestyle choices and a new beginning into a very exciting future!

A couple months ago, I made some serious lifestyle changes which not only included a lot of soul searching, but also required me to move into a new home, furnish it and put my business and travel plans into “full speed”.  In the midst of a tough situation, I managed to find my zen in a beautiful new home complete with everything I could ever hope for, the catch is that I have to furnish the entire thing!  Although, like many, I love to decorate and shop for my home I have to admit after almost 2 months of getting things organized and moved in I am EXHAUSTED!

Beddings

Not only am I shopping for the house, but with September fast approaching I’ve been spending my last couple days getting the kids ready for their new schools, new clothing and appointments.  Yes..I still use my planner on a daily basis and it has been a lifesaver.

The whole transition into a new life may come with some hiccups, but I take each hiccup with a proverbial drink of positive water and keep on moving towards my goals.  Due to the move, all my traveling plans were put on hold, so it’s time for this girl to pack her travel bag and get some much needed relaxation.

Being on Meerkat ( @AppMeerkat ) has introduced me to some amazing business contacts which have turned into some great friends.  After almost 5 months, I finally get to meet and hang out with some of my favourite people in New York!  My tickets are booked and now all I have to do is get packing!  My travel clothes are lined up and my itinerary has been finalized.  It will be an epic trip! 😀

Much love to all, I hope your summer has been a great one, too!  I’ll update you all soon!

Snow during Spring… enough, please.

Although in many parts of Canada they are calling for more snow, I’m lucky enough to live in the southern part of Canada.  The weather people still claim there’s another round of snow heading my way and in some parts of the Mid-West U.S. they have received some more of the white stuff.  Since it’s too cold to go outside just yet, I made it through the kids’ March Break.  I can’t even front that it was a breeze!  The first couple of days was calm but towards the end of the week the kids were driving me bananas!  Luckily, a new and larger Dollarama store opened up close to my grocery store so I had a chance to wander through the aisles about 45 minutes before closing.  I stopped by the craft area and picked up a large package of pipe cleaners, pom-poms and google eyes.  I grabbed a couple bottles of glue and headed home.  My 6yr old is very high energy and with the older kids on the playstation, I took him aside and helped make him some pipe cleaner caterpillars and pom-pom birds.

IMG_1142My tablecloth was riddled with dried glue, but my kids all enjoyed making all kinds of critters, so into the wash it goes!

I recently introduced “A Different World” to my Netflix roster.  I was so happy when Netflix released it.  That show represented the 90s fashion and subjects dealing with growing up that you don’t see so much these days.  With all the reality shows showing so much disfunction and not enough solution, I was relieved that my older kids got to watch these episodes with me.  Surprisingly, watching the shows and learning about their characters created a lot of conversation and discussions.  Life challenges, especially in the show, aren’t all paved with fancy rainbow colours, there were some actual topics that provoked adult thought and dilemmas.  If not just for the nostalgia, I highly recommend watching the seasons of A Different World, the humour is fun and for once I can actually sit down and watch a show that isn’t as heavy as most of the tv shows these days.

Hope you are all having a great week!

Much love

As always it’s great to finally be reunited with my girl Princess Stepford we always seem to laugh and enjoy what we do and that is to entertain.  This last episode was good ol’ thought provoking fun that lead us both into the YouTube abyss.
