So many things

*CLICK FOR VIDEO* So many things

I had such a fun weekend and I’m so happy that the stresses of the world melted away. I ordered more supplies, worked on some fine details and now I feel more prepared for all my future projects. As a bonus, I got to meet up with some great friends and we ended the weekend with sharing some great laughs and stories.

All in all life is awesome!

Bring on the new week!

Life with Stiletto: So many things

Over already?!

It's the Civic Holiday weekend and it feels like the summer months passed by so fast! I blame most of this on the weirdest weather I've seen in years! It would rain so hard it sounded like hail against my windows, thunderstorms at least once a week followed by extreme heat where I could hardly breathe. Although, I'd rather have this weather than the upcoming winter months.

The back-to-school supplies and clothing are in all the stores, I can almost hear my bank account cry for my school shopping days that are just around the corner. It will be an emotional school year for me as my last little pterodactyl will be leaving the nest to go to school. So far, he knows his numbers up to 10 and backwards, but he refuses to sing the alphabet song lol. Thanks to the iPad he does know what the letters are, but he just doesn't like the song. I'm guessing that he thinks the song is dumb, he rolls his eyes every time I ask him to sing it.

Lately, my days are filled with doll orders and event planning. It's a truly exciting time for me. I have found what I love in all aspects of my life from the kids, social life and now my artistry. They often say that when your personal life is good everything else around is chaos. I am living proof that the saying is NOT true. We all need to find the balance in our own lives or things get harder and harder to do. It's like the universe makes some things in our lives difficult in order to accept something better in our lives. "Out with the old, in with the new" has a deeper meaning than we think. This whole year has unraveled many important life choices for me. My family relationships have been stronger now than ever, financial security is finally here, reuniting with my childhood best friend, maintaining deeper relationships with my friends from all over my online world and forming new amazing friendships who have cleared my mind and settled my soul.

Yes, you can have it all, yes abundance is attainable. If you want these things, you have to release everything that you know is holding you back. It will seem so difficult to let go, but it will be worth it and those difficult moments you are experiencing right now, will be in your distant past. Right when you're about to give up hope is when you have to gather up as much strength as you have to get through the rough moments. You will see your end goals, not when YOU want to see it, but when you're ready to accept it.

Review: Organik Botanik Brown Sugar Face Scrub

In the midst of our unpredictable Canadian Spring, there comes a time when we Canadian gals have to, what I call, “descale”.  This means all the dry indoor air leaves my skin so dry, I literally feel like I need to shed layers of Winter skin… I know, gross right?

I guess my new “jam” has been Winner’s and I’ve been having good luck finding little steals here and there.. But this.. this right here…

IMG_8920
Organik Botanik Brown Sugar Face Scrub

This was the WORST product I’ve ever bought in my LIFE!!  At first, it felt like other facial scrubs when I rinsed it out I noticed my skin was a bit shiny like I had put oil on my face.   To this very day my face is a hot mess!  My forehead and cheeks feel like sandpaper and I have cystic acne on my chin!!  When I break out it’s usually one angry pimple, but this??!!  OMG it destroyed my skin!!  With this in mind, I’m going back to my favourite skincare treatment  (Biotherm Plankon Essence) to fix this face somehow.

I paid $7.99CDN for this, so basically I paid $8.00 for my break out!  It’ll be a while before try anything like this again! lol

Hope you guys had a great day.. I’m going back to living with a bag over my head until this angry breakout goes away.  If you see this anywhere.. keep walking, it’s horrible.

Review: Conair for Her Wet/Dry Shaver

If you’ve been following me here or on social media, you’re aware of my experiences with wax hair removal.  I bought my first wax warmer about 6 years ago and at one time I even tried waxing my bikini line… I suggest that you NEVER do that, it freakin hurts.. go to a professional for that job, for real!  I still wax myself, but mostly underarms and occasionally on my legs.

Spring is here and many of us Canadian gals are shedding our winter leg hairs and getting ourselves ready for the time sensitive spring and summer.  Although waxing my legs is fabulous, it takes a lot longer than a quick shave in the shower.  In my thinking, disposable razors are expensive and when you have a whole house full of boys, two of which already shave, it was literally making me feel like I was actually throwing out money.  Off to Walmart I went…

After going through a few electric razors, Conair for her (link shows newer model) was the only one that didn’t have a warning saying “Some materials in this product are not approved in the state of California”  Like, what the heck does that mean?  Anyway, I purchased it to see if it could replace disposable razors in both price and ability to de-hair my legs.

IMG_8430

It comes with a base for recharging, a blade cover and two bikini comb guides (razor guards).  This shaver can be used in wet and dry conditions which is perfect for what I need.  First, I tried it on my dry legs, after getting used to the whole shaving experience my legs were smooth and hair free.  A week later, with hair regrowth, I decided to take my lil gal into the shower with some EOS shaving cream (review coming soon) and tried it out.  I was super impressed!  It glided over my legs and although I had shaving cream it didn’t skip nor shut off.

Overall, this is a great gadget to have and it’s small enough to be travel friendly.  I don’t think I’ll give up on waxing, but this is great for those days where I’m NOT so timing friendly.

Let me know if you try it out!

Review: LUSH Children’s soap

Although LUSH products have been around for many years, I have never ventured into the stores because when they first came out the scent from their store was very strong and literally gave me a headache.  I watched an episode of Undercover Boss: LUSH and I was more intrigued about the company as a whole.  My next visit to the mall, I made a point of going into the LUSH store.  The store was packed with customers and I almost didn’t go in because of all the traffic, but braving my fear of someone breathing on me,  I braved myself to go in.  I was immediately welcomed and I stayed to watch and participate in the live demonstration of a bath bomb (I bought 3 of those).

I asked for kids products and was led to the section and the salesperson explained how to use the soap and if they were hypoallergenic, which they were.  I walked away with the Aliens and Monsters soap.

IMG_8429

Ultimately, my boys LOVE this product!  They had fun making shapes and animals with the soap.  When wet, the soap becomes moldable like play dough and each colour had its own scent.

The only gripe I have was with the packaging, it comes wrapped in cellophane that isn’t really easy to open and makes it difficult and messy to store.   Other than that, this is the best product I’ve tried with my kids and it was a success.

I recommend anyone who shops there to not be intimidated and go in, there is something for anyone.

Overall, LUSH didn’t not disappoint me, I’m still trying some other products I purchased.  I will do reviews on those as well.

Hope you have an awesome day!

Netflix Review: Orange is the New Black

Screen Shot 2016-07-11 at 12.23.02 AM

After waiting many nail-biting months, I was naturally ecstatic and binge watched the entire season for 2 days.  I refrained from writing about this season long enough!

With the Season 4  trailer starting off my visual journey of this series, I was so pumped!  I called and messaged all my best friends from Canada to the US that the season was out.  We were all excited and I even put every gadget I had on mute and tweeted that I was busy watching the series.. *note to self:  don’t do that, because everyone will bother the hell out of me anyways..

The first episode started off with great energy and events that twisted the plots to everyone’s story.  The brilliance of this series is that it gives each character depth with each intricate story.  The personalities are fierce and there is a realism in each of their stories.

Screen Shot 2016-07-11 at 12.22.05 AM

Dayanara Diaz (Dascha Polanco) finds herself in uncharted territories with the realization that her mother, Aleida Diaz (Elizabeth Rodriguez) is released early.  She desperately tries to find her place among the other inmates.  Dayanara captured my heart from day one with her innocent-not-so-innocent demeanour.  The progression of her character is organic and realistic from innocent to naive to fierce!

Alex Vause (Laura Prepon), as an actor I’ve enjoyed Laura since her early beginnings in That 70’s Show, now many moons later it’s like a breath of fresh air to see her acting abilities and the range of emotion she captures in her character.  With her tough, no-nonsense personality this fourth season brought out a vulnerable side in her that draws you, as a viewer, in.  Alex certainly keeps the proverbial pot stirring.

Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling) has changed so much with every season, it seems that as her counterparts get more vulnerable Piper gets smarter and dare I say tougher.  She managed to manipulate her way to the “top” of the inmate food chain doing what she does best, using her entrepreneurial skills.  I find her both tragic and endearing.

Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren (Uzo Aduba), this is my favourite character, she translates her thoughts in a juvenile way, yet gives me the impression that she is really a genius.  Her childlike character makes you instantly empathize with her current and past experiences.  In this new season, you slowly get to see her naivety disappear, it is intriguing, sad, but believable.

Galina “Red” Reznikov (Katherine Kiernan Maria “Kate” Mulgrew) the self-proclaimed “Mother” of the prison continues to show her strengths as a leader but in this season reality sets in for this inmate of many years.  Red continues to keep her eyes on Piper and Nicky Nichols (Natasha Lyonne) and treats them like her children among the other choice few.  She runs her position and her heart with an iron fist, however we witness a deterioration of her will.  She begins to break down emotionally.

I can go on and on all night about all the stories and plot twists!  Just like Season 3, this new Season 4 leaves me wanting more!  It seemed to end just as fast as it started with even more cliffhanging stories.

If you haven’t already, I highly recommend you fire up your Netflix and prepare for a Orange is the New Black Season 4 marathon.  It delivers the promise of drama, action and the best plot twists you could only expect from a novel.

Skincare Review: Biotherm Life Plankton Essence

IMG_5351
Biotherm Life Plankton Essence

I have been using the Life Plankton Essence by Biotherm for over 6 months and I am completely amazed by the results.  I’m not the kind of person that likes to follow a strict skin regiment, but since the onset of the summer heat, this product has helped with new blemishes and acne scarring.  I was also excited to see how it has also helped with scars that I have had for over 2 years!  (I will have a full before and after result review soon)

You must shake the product before using it and only apply a couple of drops and tap the product lightly onto your skin with your fingertips.  It does have a mild “beach” sent but it absorbs quite nicely into my combination skin.

As you can see in the picture above, after 6 months, I have only used a small amount.  I will be using the Biotherm Life Plankton Essence as part of my daily routine.  I’m so impressed by how my skin feels and it seems to have its glow and lustre back without that greasy look and feel.

I purchased this in the Beauty Section of Shoppers Drug Mart.  Ask for a sample to try it out and let me know your results.  Have a great day my luvs! 🙂

Should I Stay or should I Uber?

It’s been 6 years since I’ve been able to drive, so I rely, heavily, on every form of transportation.  Since I am, also, extremely impatient and it’s winter, there is now way this gal is getting on a bus.  So, my go-to transportation has always been to call a taxi. From flat rate taxis to the drivers that take the “scenic” route, I’ve tried the all.

I heard about Uber almost a year ago and I found the concept very interesting.  Since I am a self-proclaimed App-Junkie, I was even more intrigued about the app and having the convenience of booking a driver at the palm of my hand.  Around the same time, however, the local taxi company I use developed their own app complete with GPS, payment options, and driver assignment number.  I downloaded both apps and tried them out.  Both were flawless and my wait time was cut in half which, for me in the dead of winter, is an important feature.

In talking different taxi drivers, I asked them how Uber has affected their business.  One claimed that he lost 30% of his income because of Uber.  We talked about the taxi company strike in Toronto and his thoughts on Uber.

“..this is how I make a living, this is my business, I invested thousands to become a driver.  I spent a over $20,000 for the car and $8,000 a year in insurance, licensing, etc.  Here, I have a camera, my photo identification, my car number these are all for the safety of my passengers.  Did you know that Uber drivers’ insurance does not cover its passengers?  If you were ever to be in an accident with me, as my client, you would be covered…”

Screen Shot 2016-03-01 at 8.48.19 AM

And then we have Jason Dalton (picture above), an Uber driver that has recently murdered 6 people in a 5 hour rampage.  Although there were many bad reviews and reports about his driving erratically at high speeds, he continued to shoot innocent people from his car picking up passengers between his murders.  Many of the passengers who rode with Jason Dalton expressed that they were terrified and lucky to be alive.  Jason Dalton, a 45 year old married man with 2 children was arrested and detained that same night.

The reality is there is good and bad everywhere and we all know that, but luckily this is the information age which has given the power back to us as consumers to make our own informed decisions.  Whether you decide to choose a taxi or Uber or any other transportation service please do your research, share it and be safe!

Much love my Sweets!

Lil Man’s Operation

IMG_0002

Nothing can humble a parent more than when they require an operation.  Although it was considered “minor” the powerless feeling was so overwhelming when they wheeled him out of the room in a steel crib that resembled an animal cage.

The newest hospital improvement is now a random number attached to the patient’s name.  The waiting room has a huge monitor to watch and track the patient’s whereabouts.  It’s a lot like the airport monitors where one searches through to look for their flight number.  He stared at me with his great big eyes and it took everything I had to not breakdown and cry.

The whole hospital visit took about 5 hours.

It took about 3 days for the pain to finally subside and his appetite has finally come back.  I’ve been awake on 24hour on-call nurse duties so, I’m happy that he’s back to his   sleep schedule.

Now that my son is healing, I’ve  been able to film and edit so you will be seeing much more of the video projects I’ve been working on as well as my radio show shenanigans.
